We’re back from celebrating the winter holidays and we have some fresh news from Microsoft: the company recently introduced the new Nokia 215, an affordable phone that is meant to help first-time mobile phone buyers get online.

Or to put it in other words, the new Nokia 215 is an internet-ready phone that is offered at a very affordable price – an estimated retail price of $29 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 215 – Main Features
  • Display – 2.4-inch QVGA display.
  • Dimensions & weight – 116mm x 50mm x 12.9mm; 78.7 grams
  • Camera – 0.3MP VGA camera.
  • Music – MP3 playback and FM radio.
  • Connectivity – 900/1800 MHz, Micro USB, 3.5mm AV connector, Bluetooth 3.0 and Bluetooth audio support for headsets.
  • Memory & storage – 8MB RAM; up to 32GB microSD supported.

  • SIM – available as single-SIM and as a dual-SIM model.
  • Built-in torch light.

As mentioned at the start of this article, the Nokia 215 is an internet-ready phone. It lets you surf the web with the Opera Mini web browser, it lets you search for stuff online with Bing Search, it lets you check out the forecast with MSN Weather, and it lets you stay in touch with others via the Facebook, Twitter, and Messenger social apps.

“With our ultra-affordable mobile phones and digital services, we see an inspiring opportunity to connect the next billion people to the Internet for the first time,” said Jo Harlow, corporate vice president of Microsoft Devices Group. “The Nokia 215 is perfect for people looking for their first mobile device, or those wanting to upgrade to enjoy affordable digital and social media services, like Facebook and Messenger.”

The Nokia 215 phone will roll out first in select markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe in Q1 2015.
