McAfee Teaches Everyone to Safely Bank Online
Thanks to the internet we can do a lot of things without having to step out of the house and online banking is one of them. The thing is that there are a few security issues associated with online banking – as is the case with just about anything that goes on online. McAfee, company that specializes in providing security software solutions for home and business users, can help with your security worries and can help you safely bank online.
The company has recently released an online guide that aims to help users of all technical levels bank online in a safe manner. In the guide McAfee highlights three personality types and provides tips needed for each personality type to use online banking with confidence.
The three abovementioned personality types are as follows:
Competent But A Little Careless
In this group you can find users ages 18 to 24, users who are comfortable using technology, but sometimes forget to put basic security practices in place because they are overly confident.
Confident by Casual
In this group you will find users ages 25 to 45 who frequently use online banking and use the internet for their personal reasons and for work. The users in this group can sometimes be casual about security.
Conservative And Cautious
Users over the age of 45 can be found in this group. These are users who are not very familiar with technology and are cautious when using the internet. A rather small portion of the users in this group use online banking.
Check out the online guide to see what tips McAfee has to offer for each of these personality types. There are of course a few general tips that apply to everyone: use security software and keep it updated, don’t give out your login credentials to anyone, make sure to pick a strong password and do not recycle passwords, and watch out for phishing attempts.
In related news, Sophos recently released a free mobile security toolkit that contains top tips for creating secure passwords, a user-targeted video and presentation, whitepapers and a sample security policy. More about this topic here.
