Independent software development company MacPaw recently rolled out a new product called Encrypto. It is an encryption tool that uses AES-256 encryption to make sure your files remain safe and private. Before you send someone a file, use MacPaw’s new Encrypto tool to encrypt it. When that someone receives the file, Encrypto will quickly decrypt it.

“We’re happy to announce that we’ve released Encrypto,” said MacPaw on its blog. “It’s an easy-to-use app (isn’t everything nowadays?) that lets you encrypt files with AES-256 encryption and then send them to friends or coworkers via built-in sharing options. Just take your file or folder, drop it in Encrypto, encrypt it, and send it to anyone straight from within the app.”

Encrypto – Main Features
  • Low specs – the system requirements for running Encrypto are quite low. Modern and even older computers will easily meet them.
  • Easy to set up – it is incredibly easy to get Encrypto up and running on a PC or Mac. That’s right, Encrypto is available for Windows and Mac.
  • Good looking UI – Encrypto’s dark themed interface is a pleasure to work with. I especially liked the animation it uses when it encrypts and decrypts files.
  • AES-256 encryption – Encrypto uses AES-256 encryption to keep files and folders safe. Easily encrypt a file from the aforementioned interface or right click a file and select “Encrypt with Encrypto” from the right click context menu.
  • Password hints – you’ll get to pick the password that will block access to encrypted files. To make sure you don’t forget it, you can enter a password hint.
  • Sharing – “Encrypted files can be sent from Mac to Mac through Native sharing features, or can be sent via other methods to PCs (and vice-versa),” explained MacPaw.
MacPaw offers Encrypto for the great price of free.
As mentioned above, Encrypto is available for Windows and Mac.
