MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update Released by Apple

The firmware releases continue to be rolled out of the Cupertino-based company; this time Apple released an update for MacBook Air computers that should address a compatibility issue between the device and the latest service replacement batteries. The official tag attached to this release is “MacBook Air SMC Firmware Update 1.2”

“This SMC firmware update adds compatibility for the latest service replacement batteries. SMC Firmware Updates refer to the System Management Controller (SMC) firmware update for Intel-based computers. The SMC is a micro-controller on the logic board that controls the power functions for your computer. The SMC controls various functions, including: power and thermal management, the Sleep LED, and battery [and] controlling the fans, supporting Sudden Motion Sensor, ALS, and the power switch,” explained Apple.

The firmware update provides support for the following languages: Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
