Even though Apple has not officially come out to announce the release date of the Snow Leopard, Mac OS X, this is not stopping people from trying to guess when the operating system will be unveiled to the public. The latest predictions state that Apple’s World Wide Developers Convention (WWDC) will debut on the 7th of June, and no sooner than the 8th we can expect Apple to showcase the Snow Leopard at the aforementioned convention.
Why would we take this prediction seriously? For the simple reason that Apple, who traditionally hosts the WWDC at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, can only book the location for a limited period of time – and that time is between the 6th and 12th of June. Apple will definitely not host the conference at a different location, so it is safe to say that the WWDC will be held in that slot of free time.
The one to predict June 8th as the date when Apple will showcase the Snow Leopard, Mac OS 10.6, is Baltimore Sun’s David Zeiler: “This all started with two co-workers who sought my advice this past week on when to buy a new MacBook. I thoughtfully advised them to wait until Snow Leopard came out so they would be sure to get all the promised speed benefits of the latest and greatest version of Mac OS X. Unfortunately, they both asked when that would happen. I wanted to know myself when exactly to expect Snow Leopard. I went on a sleuthing mission and discovered enough clues that I’m now willing to predict June 8 as the Snow Leopard launch day.”
Going through David Zeiler’s post you will notice that he makes a pretty convincing case and properly details how he got to this conclusion. We can only hope that his prediction is accurate, as it is joyful news twofold: first of all we know when the WWDC will be held, and secondly we know that the next iteration of the MAC OS X will be showcased and made available to the world in just a few months’ time. On a side note, it msut be said that the Leopard will be further improved upon with the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5.7 update.
