Lockitron: Unlock Your Door from Anywhere
Presenting Lockitron, a cool piece of tech that lets you unlock your door from anywhere, using any phone. It also notifies you when someone unlocks or knocks on your door.
Lockitron is a cool piece of tech that managed to get my attention because of the ease of use and convenience it offers. Easily attach Lockitron to the lock on your door and then, using your iPhone, Android, or other type of phone, you’ll be able to unlock the door from anywhere you are in the world.
Here’s a real-life scenario that I’m more than familiar with: I get comfortable in bed, then right when I’m about to fall asleep, the misses asks if the front door is locked. I don’t want to go and check, but what other option do I have than to brave the cold and the darkness and go check the door? With Lockitron I don’t have to leave the bed – I can check and I can lock the door from my smartphone.
That’s not all the functionality that Lockitron has to offer. It will also notify you when your door was unlocked. Say you gave Bob a key and asked him to go check on your cat while you’re visiting your parents. When Bob uses that key to unlock your door, Lockitron will notify you. Alternatively, you can just tell Bob to ring you up and you can use your phone to remotely unlock your door so he can get it.
Last but not least, Lockitron will notify you if someone’s knocking at your door. Its sensors can detect when someone’s knocking on your door; seconds later you will be notified about this.
The first Lockitron shipment is scheduled to be shipped in March 2013. For a limited time you can place a Lockitron preorder for $149.
Additional information on Lockitron is available here.
