Billy the Painter is a recently released iOS game that can prove to be quite entertaining and worth your time. Rolled out to the public earlier this month by Lipasto Games, an independent game development company founded in Helsinki, Finland, the game takes you to the swinging twenties and presents you with great looking hand-made animations. You could say that the visual experience alone is enough to push you to get the game.

Taking the spotlight off the visual, and putting it on the gameplay, it must be said that the app tasks you with painting the floor of an old factory. You see, the old machinery has been moved out and now there are patches that need repainting. It is up to Billy to paint the barren surfaces without spilling any paint on the rest of the floor.

Tap on the screen and a drop of paint will be laid on the floor – said drop will start expanding and expanding, going in all directions. You have to be precise with the whole painting process and make as few mistakes as possible – do too many mistakes and it will cost you the job, mind you.

“The game is easy to start, but hard to master. You can try many strategies to fill the area with the best possible precision. In theory you could fill all levels with 100% precision! In practice, 95% is great, 90% good, and even 50% is enough for the first level. Requirements increase slowly, but certainly. You just can’t make too many mistakes without losing a job,” said Lipasto Games.

The iPhone and iPod Touch version of the game is available in the App Store for free. Click here to get it. To get an idea of what it’s like to play the game on the iPhone, check out the video below.

The game is also available for the iPad, but this version is not free, it is priced at $1.99. Click here to purchase it. To get an idea of what it’s like to play the game on the iPad, check out the video below.
