Linux Mint 15 Olivia Graduates, Get the Final Version Now

Forget about the Release Candidate that was rolled out earlier this month. Linux Mint 15 “Olivia” is now available as a final version. Go get it right now!

Linux Mint 15 codename Olivia, the most ambitious release since the start of the Mint project, is now available for download as a final product. The operating system comes with a login screen that can be themed, a new Software Sources and a new Driver manager tool, a screensaver, and lots of other new features. If your system meets the requirements presented below, go get Linux Mint 15 Olivia and enjoy all if new features.

Linux Mint 15 Olivia – System Requirements
  • Processor – x86 or x64 processor; Mint 32-bit works on 32 and 64-bit processors; Mint 64-bit needs a 64-bit processor.
  • Memory – at least 512Mb of RAM memory; a recommended 1GB of memory for comfortable use.
  • Storage – 5Gb of free disk space.
  • Graphics – graphics cards capable of 800x600 resolution.
  • Other - CD/DVD drive or USB port.

If you’re on the RC version that was rolled out earlier this month, apply any level 1 and 2 updates in the Update Manager to upgrade to the final version.

  • Cinnamon 1.8, Mate 1.6
  • MDM features a GTK, a themeable GMD and a new HTML greeter.
  • New MintSources tool replaces software-properties-gtk .
  • New MintDrivers tool that lets you manage your drivers.
  • Nemo has a heavily modified interface and its behavior better integrates with Cinnamon.
  • Desklets that can be added to the desktop (similar to Plasmoids on KDE or Widgets on Android).
  • Set a custom away message for Cinnamon’s screensaver.
  • The Gnome Control Center is no longer needed because all config modules are present in Cinnamon Settings.
  • Install Spices (applets, themes, extensions) in Cinnamon directly from the desktop.
  • Various system improvements.
