Linux Mint 13 KDE Release Candidate Is Out

Lead Linux Mint developer Clem Lefebvre recently announced that the Release Candidate (RC) of Linux Mint 13 Maya KDE has been released to the public. Download links for Linux Mint 13 KDE RC, in 32-bit and 64-bit flavors, are available on the official Linux Mint blog here.

To run Linux Mint 12 KDE RC, your system must meet the following requirements: x86 or x64 processor, 512MB of RAM, 5GB of free disk space, graphics card capable of 800x600 resolution, CD-ROM driver or USB port. Get the 32 or 64-bit DVD ISO and install Linux Mint 12 KDE RC on your machine if it meets the aforementioned system requirements.

  • KDE 4.8 vibrant and innovative desktop environment – this latest edition of the KDE desktop comes with several improvements, such as Kwin optimizations and new display engine in Dolphin.
  • Artwork improvements – besides the default backgrounds, Linux Mint KDE 13 RC features a nice collection of photographs from an Irish artist.
  • Search engine change - the default search engine has been changed to Yahoo! because it’s the first major search engine to share revenue with Linux Mint.
  • Upstream components: Ubuntu 12.04, Linux 3.2, KDE 4.8.
