More good news from the development team behind the Linux Mint operating system: after announcing this weekend that the stable version of Linux Mint 13 Xfce has been released, the team announced today that the final version of Linux Mint KDE has been released as well.

Both editions were rolled out as RCs (Release Candidates) earlier this month – now both editions shed their RC tag. If you’re on the RC edition of either one, to upgrade to the final version you need only apply any available level 1 and 2 updates available in the Update Manger.

Download links for the 32-bit and 64-bit flavors of Linux Mint 13 KDE are available on the official Linux Mint blog here. Your system must meet the following system requirements to run the operating system: x86 or x64 processor, 512MB of RAM, 5GB of free disk space, graphics card capable of 800x600 resolution, CD-ROM driver or USB port.

Linux Mint 13 KDE comes with the following new features:
  • Upstream components: Ubuntu 12.04, Linux 3.2, KDE 4.8.
  • KDE 4.8 vibrant and innovative desktop environment – this latest edition of the KDE desktop comes with several improvements, such as Kwin optimizations and new display engine in Dolphin.
  • Artwork improvements – besides the default backgrounds, Linux Mint KDE 13 features a nice collection of photographs from an Irish artist.
  • Search engine change - the default search engine has been changed to Yahoo! because it’s the first major search engine to share revenue with Linux Mint.
