The guys behind the ilumi project had a clear goal in mind: to change the way we control light. So ilumi Solutions came up with a smart lightbulb that can be controlled from your smartphone. From the ilumi app on your iPhone or Android you can turn the lights on or off, dim the lights, change the light type, change the light color, and more.

The guys behind LightFreq took things one step further and they built a speaker into the lightbulb. LightFreak is a smart lightbulb that can be remotely controlled from your smartphone – the kicker is that HD audio is built into the lightbulb.

LightFreq – Main Features
  • Light – you can remotely control the lightbulb from your smartphone. The LightFreq app lets you dim the light, turn the light on or off, or change the light color.
  • Sound – LightFreq comes with a built-in 5W speaker. This means the smart lightbulb can play music or notifications.
  • Intercom – LightFreq also comes with a built-in microphone, meaning you can use it as an intercom. Speak into your smartphone and your message will be played by the LightFreq lightbulb.
  • Notifications – set an alarm that will turn the light on and play a sound, set it so the lightbulb changes color and plays a sound when you receive a notification on your smartphone (text, call, Facebook, Twitter, email, and so on).
  • Location – the “follow” function ensures the light or the music turns on when you get home and turns off when you leave.

LightFreq Specs
  • Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Built-in mic and 5W HD audio speaker.
  • 800 lumens.
  • 16 million color combinations.
  • 40,000 hour lifetime.
  • Fully smartphone-controllable via an iOS or Android app.

Please note that LightFreq will hit the market only if it hits its $50,000 crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter.
