If you like to meet new people and you also like to prepare home cooked meals, then you need to know about LeftOver Swap, a mobile app that pairs you up with people who are willing to take your leftovers.

So if you’re not afraid of meeting up with strangers, if you have leftover food and you don’t know what to do with it, then go give LeftOver Swap a try.

When I was a college student, I did not have lots of money and I did not know how to cook. Fast food was okay, but nothing beat a home cooked meal. Even the leftovers from a home cooked meal were pretty appealing. It’s a shame that LeftOver Swap wasn’t around back then – sigh. You see, you can use LeftOver Swap to meet up with people how are willing to give away their leftovers.

I am a married man now – I still don’t know how to cook, but the missus does and, most times, the leftovers from her awesome home cooked meals end up in the garbage. Not anymore! Thanks to LeftOver Swap, I can now give my leftovers to a stranger who needs them. Instead of throwing the leftovers away, I can perhaps help out a hungry college student, like I was back in the day.

LeftoverSwap – Main Features
  • Give food – find people who are willing to take your leftovers. Give away your left over home-cooked meals, the fruit you’re not going to eat anyway, the extra box of pasta that’s been sitting on your counter for ages, and so on.
  • Get food – if you’re broke, if you’re cheap, if you don’t feel like cooking today, then use LeftoverSwap to find people who are willing to give you food.
  • Make friends – the people you meet are strangers...at first. If you want to, you can get to know them better.
  • No more waste – instead of throwing away perfectly good food, give it to someone who wants or needs it.
  • No more senseless eating – instead of saying “it’s a pity to throw this away, I should probably eat it,” say something like “I’m full, I’m going to give the leftovers to someone else.”

LeftoverSwap is currently available for iOS only. You can get the app for free from Apple’s App Store.

Greased Watermelon said that it’s working on a web version and an Android version of LeftoverSwap. Visit LeftoverSwap.com, sign up, and you will be notified when these versions become available.
