Smule, the company that released the Ocarina iPhone app a while back, has just recently released another musically oriented app: Leaf Trombone: World Stage. The name of the app can be explained like this: the “Leaf” part relates to the fact that Smule was inspired by Chinese leaf blowers; the “Trombone” part means that you get to play the trombone, and according to Smule it should sound just like its real, brass-made counterpart; the “World Stage” part refers to the fact that the app is in fact a multiplayer game, meaning that you can perform for other virtual trombonists (other players).

“Smule proudly introduces Leaf Trombone World Stage, the world's first Massively-Multiplayer Musical Game. Blow into your iPhone and slide your finger to create beautiful melodies. Or use Touch mode on your iPod Touch to play without wind. It's that easy! You can learn how to play, practice your favorite songs and, when you feel ready, strut your stuff by performing on the World Stage,” explains Smule.

Leaf Trombone: World Stage does not come free of charge, but it will not cost you an arm and a leg either. The special introductory price provided by Smule is of just $0.99, and if Ocarina is to be taken as a measure of comparison, we can expect Leaf Trombone to become very popular in quite a short amount of time.

There really isn’t much else to say about Leaf Trombone: World Stage – it comes really cheap, it is provided by a company that already made a very entertaining and very popular iPhone app, picking up the basics of the game is quite an easy process, and for those of you that want to show of your skills and original compositions, you can perform in front of a worldwide panel of judges.

If you would like to get Leaf Trombone: World Stage, an iTunes download location is available here.
