The team behind Trillian, the popular multiprotocol instant messaging application, has recently announced the release of a new Beta version of Trillian for Windows. That Beta version would be Trillian for Windows 5.1 Build 7; if you would like to get it you can do so by simply clicking this link .

The interesting thing is that this latest Beta version shows Skype some love. Cerulean Studios explained that its Skype plugin got “a great upgrade” and consequently you can stay in touch with your Skype friends without having to run Skype and Trillian concomitantly. From within Trillian for Windows 5.1 you can now chat, send files, and make Skype calls if you want to.

This latest Beta release comes with a few other changes, Cerulean Studios explained. Here are those changes:
- Native Skype integration.
- A refreshed chat history design.
- The ability to send images on all chat services.
- AIM and ICQ plugin updates.
- Twitter user streams and other misc new features.
- A host of other minor bugfixes and improvements.

Now that Skype and Trillian for Windows play well together, Cerulean Studios is working hard to integrate Skype into its Trillian for Mac application. We don’t know when work on this project will be done; Cerulean Studios said it will be done soon.

The fact that Skype is now plugged into Trillian for Windows 5.1 seems like a nice present for all the Trillian users out there. And speaking of presents, it must be said that Skype celebrated its 8th anniversary this August. AS you may already know, and if you don’t I’m going to tell it to you know, the first public Beta version of Skype was released to the public back in August 2003. A video entitled “The Power of Skype” was released in honor of his joyous occasion.
