The first news in this bundle related to Kaspersky Lab, developer of security software that protects against malware, hackers and spam and one of the largest antivirus companies in Europe, is that a new security solution for Mac OS X is now available for purchase in the Mac App Store.

Kaspersky Lab released a new security solution called Kaspersky Virus Scanner to provide basic protection to Mac OS X users. It is available for purchase in the Mac App Store for $9.99. The app lets users run on-demand scans for Mac and non-Mac malware – this means Windows and Linux malware that may sneak onto their computers. The app automatically updates its malware database to be able to detect the latest threats, has a multilingual interface, and is sold with a life-long license.

“Kaspersky Virus Scanner represents a step-up in protection compared to the built-in security available in Mac OS X,” explained the Kaspersky Lab team, “However, Mac users who want even higher security levels for their computers can choose Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac 2011, with its robust anti-malware protection, on-schedule scanning, instantaneous updates and use of Kaspersky Security Network’s cloud protection.”

Moving on, the second news is that Kaspersky Lab expanded its existing partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. The partnership between Kaspersky Lab and Scuderia Ferrari is “immensely successful” for both companies and that is why Kaspersky Lab decided to expand it. This means that the Kaspersky Lab logo will be featured on all Scuderia Ferrari racing cars at all Formula One races in the 2012 and 2013 seasons; it will be featured on the nose cone and nose sides. The Kaspersky Lab logo will also be featured on the overalls of the Scuderia Ferrari drivers and on the team uniforms.

“We are delighted to further develop our partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. Our companies have many values in common: we both aim high, and never stop moving forward,” said Eugene Kaspersky, chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab. “Our achievements are based on cutting-edge technologies, high-profile expertise and constant innovation, which result in the best-in-class quality of our respective products and the peak of reliability. Kaspersky Lab has been fighting cybercrime for over 14 years, always keeping abreast of the newest trends. So the notion of speed is very familiar to us, and we are only too happy to speed ahead on the nose cones of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racing cars!”

And the last news in this bundle is that Kaspersky Lab decided to terminate its membership on the BSA (Business Software Alliance) as a protest against the US Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), an act described by Eugene Kaspersky as “vinyl-era legislation trying to manage the industry that requires a different approach". With SOPA the US wants to block domains and web sites at the network level to prevent the illegal distribution of copyrighted material. Kaspersky Lab isn’t the only one to oppose SOPA. AOL, eBay, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter, Yahoo, Zynga and Mozilla are opposing it and even Microsoft is quietly against it.
