It is not always easy to maintain a clean system nor is it cheap. If you want to protect your machine from all the dangers you may encounter when surfing the web (Trojans, viruses, worms, etc.), and you want to do it for free, then Kaspersky Labs has the perfect solution for you - Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 7.0.0.290.

This 27.6MB piece of software will download in no time at all, even on a slow Internet connection. Once downloaded you can install and run it, free-of-charge of course, on any Windows-based operating system (Windows 2000, XP and Vista). There are no significant system requirements that must be met. The only downside to using the AVP Tool is the fact that it will not automatically update itself, as opposed to other security software solutions provided by Kaspersky. Apart from that, it works just as well as Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 in terms of malware detection and protection.

Why would you bother with this AVP Tool from Kaspersky? Well, for two reasons and two reasons alone: it is freeware, so the only thing you will lose is time (assuming of course that you do not like the software); Kaspersky puts out some of the best software products around. Proof of that is the Gold Malware Treatment Award handed out by Anti-Malware Test Lab, the 5-Star Award handed by PC World, and the 9 out of 10 score obtained in a security review conducted by Micro Mart.

There is one thing that you must keep in mind, in the eventuality that you download the software, install it on your machine, and then discover that it does not really suit you. You will not be able to uninstall it unless you uncheck the “enable self-defense” tab.

If you would like to install and run Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 7.0.0.290 at no charge whatsoever, a download location is available here. Alternative download link here.
