Kanye West Gets Hacked and Accused of Bisexual Mischief

Kanye West, the famous record producer and singer that won ten Grammys so far, somehow managed to have several of his accounts hacked into: Gmail, Twitter, MySpace. The hackers then used these accounts to spread wild rumors over the internet that Kanye West will star in an upcoming movie, and not the family oriented kind, but a bisexual adult flick.

“NOW SOMEBODY HAS BEEN HACKING INTO MY MYSPACE AND SOMEBODY'S ACTUALLY HACKED INTO MY PERSONAL GMAIL ACCOUNT AND HAS BEEN EMAILING PEOPLE FROM IT... HEY WORLD I NO LONGER HAVE A GMAIL! I FOUND OUT I HAD TWELVE UNAUTHORIZED SKYPE ACCOUNTS UNDER MY NAME!!! THIS ALL IN THE PAST FOUR DAYS. WELCOME TO KANYE WEST WORLD!” says Kanye West on his official blog.

From a security point of view, this is not exactly something new. Hackers, malware spreaders and spammers have forever taken advantage of a celebrity’s good name for their own benefit. The official web page of Paris Hilton for example was hacked into not too long ago and used to spread malicious software. What is worrisome is the fact that celebrities do no take the issue of online security more seriously.

Rumor mill on the web has it that the person responsible for the hacking was able to gain access to these accounts simply because Kanye West must have used the same login info to access all these accounts – which would be a really n00b move, but not an unlikely one. The thing to keep in mind is that when you are in the public eye, you automatically become a target for people with malicious intent (be it the paparazzi, the tabloids, hackers or malware spreaders) and you should beef up your security (real life and in the virtual world, since a crazy little rumor can snowball into a media frenzy).
