The days when you needed an invite to join Pinterest are over. Anyone can join the pinboard-style social photo sharing site. Sign up using an existing Facebook account, with an existing Twitter account, or, if you don’t have or don’t want to do so, sign up using a valid email.

The popularity of Pinterest, a site that is already considered one of the fastest growing social services in the world, is sure to increase now that everyone can join. There was a time when you needed an invite to join the pinboard-style social photo sharing site. This is no longer the case – now everyone can join Pinterest, you no longer need a friend on the inside, you just need a valid email, Facebook, or Twitter account.

“Today we’re thrilled to announce open registration!” announced the Pinterest team on the official Pinterest blog. “For those of you who haven’t joined Pinterest yet, this means you can sign up without waiting for an invite: all you have to do is go to Pinterest.com to get started. In addition to using your Facebook or Twitter login, we’re also opening registration so you can sign up with just your email address.”

If you are not familiar with Pinterest, let me give you a very brief and to the point explanation. Pinterest is an online board that lets you organize media content and share this content with others. Join Pinterest and you will be able to share media content known as pins with others; this media content is put in collections known as pinboards. You can organize, manage, and categorize pins in your themed pinboards as you see fit. This is but a brief explanation – additional info is available on Pinterest.com
