Internet Explorer 8 Helps Microsoft Feed American Children

Even though most of us are worried about maintaining our figure, and perhaps shed a few pounds, the simple truth of the matter is that not everybody in the US of A is fortunate enough to have plenty to eat. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that 1 in 8 Americans has problems ensuring he has enough to eat. Microsoft is well aware of this fact and wants to help feed the hungry, but in order to do so the Redmond-based company needs your help.

Microsoft has launched a campaign called Browser for the Better that goes something like this: for every IE8 (Internet Explorer 8) download Microsoft will donate enough money to Feeding America to cover a total of 8 meals. Please note that you must download IE8 from the Browser for the Better official web page, not directly from Microsoft or other sites (including FindMySoft).

Windows Communications Manager, Brandon LeBlanc, comments: “During the school year over 17 million U.S. children receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunches at their schools. But once the school year is ends and summer begins, these children longer receive this benefit as they are no longer in school until the fall. In response, we are joining forces with Feeding America to help these children this summer. For every completed download of Internet Explorer 8 through the Browser for the Better website, we will donate the financial equivalent of 8 meals to Feeding America’s network of 206 local food banks. These food banks supply food to more than 25 million Americans each year! The Browser for the Better campaign starts today and will run through Aug. 8, 2009.”

Please show some compassion and download Microsoft’s IE 8 browser from the Browser for the Better web page. You don’t have to actually install and use it, just download it so that starving children have something to eat.

And if you want to help fight hunger in other parts of the world, we’ve previously covered Free Rice, the web page that helps you improve your education and feed the starving at the same time (detailed article here, Free Rice web page here).
