While Apple announced the release of Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, security company Intego announced that it updated its range of products so they offer optimum compatibility with the 9th major release of Apple’s operating system.

On Tuesday, the 25th of July, Apple announced that it rolled out Mountain Lion to the Mac App Store. The new operating system, which comes with more than 200 innovative new features, is available for purchase for the affordable price of $19.99. Among the innovative new features that Mountain Lion has to offer you will find iCloud integration, Power Nap, dictation, and Gatekeeper. The last one, Gatekeeper, is a security feature that makes downloading software from the Internet safer.

On the same day, Tuesday the 25th of July, Intego announced that it updated its range of products to ensure compatibility with Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and the new Gatekeeper function that helps protect you from downloading and installing malicious software on your Mac.

Here’s a quick look at the Intego products that have been updated:
  • Internet Security Barrier X6 - the most comprehensive Mac security suite you could get your hands on.
  • VirusBarrier X6 - security solution designed to protect Macs from malware and network threats.
  • ContentBarrier - security solution that provides a safe environment for children. Unwanted content is kept away from a young viewer’s eyes.
  • Personal Backup - tool that protects your important data (documents, photos, videos, music) by backing it up.
  • Personal Antispam - tool to fight spam for Mac OS X.
  • FileGuard – a virtual safe for your confidential files.
  • Washing Machine - tool that removes files that do nothing by slow down your Mac.

“We strongly recommend that you update your Intego software before updating to Mountain Lion. To do this, use NetUpdate, which you can launch either from the Intego menu in your menubar or from the System Preferences application. There you’ll find the necessary updates for all of your Intego software,” said Intego’s Lysa Myers.
