Intego, company that specializes in providing security solutions for Mac, has recently made public a video that showcased its VirusBarrier iOS security product. If you would like to view the video, you can do so right here on FindMySoft. The video is available for your viewing pleasure down at the bottom of this article.

Now I would like to put the spotlight on VirusBarrier iOS, the first malware scanner for iOS-powered devices. Below are the main bits and pieces you need to know about this security product.

What it does
VirusBarrier iOS is a malware scanner; it scans files and detects spyware, Trojans, adware, hacker tools, dialers, keyloggers, and other security threats that could impact Mac, Windows or Unix systems. It can scan files received by email (or email attachments), archives, files downloaded from Safari, files accessed by apps that support inter-app file transfers (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, HTML files, JavaScript files, EXE files, .dll files, and so on), files stored on remote locations (Dropbox, iDisks and WebDav disks), and files stored on iOS devices.

How it works
VirusBarrier iOS performs on-demand scans in the background. This means that the user initiates the scans, then the scans are performed by the application in the background. Intego explained that VirusBarrier iOS cannot perform automatic scans or scheduled scans because of the secure design of iOS. It can automatically update its malware definitions though.

But, there’s no known iOS malware
It’s true that there is no known malware for iOS. The developer had this to say about this topic:
“The iPhone, iPad and iPod touch represent a new vector for bringing files into a home or business network. While there is no known malware for iOS, files can flow through these devices into computers at home and at work by e-mail, or via remote locations such as MobileMe or Dropbox. Mac and Windows viruses, malware and worms will take any path they can to get into home and work computers, and can easily be passed on to friends and co-workers directly from an iOS device, even though they do not affect iOS devices.”

Price
Virus Barrier is available for purchase in the App Store for $2.99.

And now, the video Intego released, video that presents VirusBarrier iOS.
