Intego: Lockitron Is "Pretty Danged Cool"

Security company Intego took notice of what Lockitron can do for you and seems to have given it its seal of approval.

Earlier this week we presented Lockitron, a nice piece of tech that lets you unlock your door remotely using your mobile phone (iPhone, Android, or some other type of phone). The news is that Lockitron caught the attention of security company Intego. Lysa Myers, Virus Hunter at Intego, approved of Lockitron’s security and said it’s a pretty cool device. In Lysa’s own words:

Being a security wonk, I gotta say Lockitron looks very well thought-out. Their security page made me nod my head approvingly as I read through it. And the fact that it’s installed on the inside avoids the “Please hack me” factor that it might otherwise have if it were visible from the outside. It is pretty danged cool to have a lock that knows it’s you and unlocks when you get near. And the Lockitron is cute or sleek (depending which color you choose) in an Apple-gadget-y sort of way.

In case you missed our previous Lockitron presentation, here’s the sort of functionality you can expect to get:
  • Remotely unlock your door. Lockitron uses Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi or SMS to let you remotely lock and unlock your door. This feature works with an iPhone, and Android-powered device, or any other type of phone.
  • The door has been unlocked notifications. If you give a family member or a friend a key and that key is used to unlock your door, Lockitron notifies you about it. Or to put it in other words, when someone unlocks your door, you get a notification.
  • Knock knock notification. Lockitron also notifies you when someone knocks on your door.

Lockitron is currently available for preorder for $149.

Additional information on Lockitron is available here.
