iOS users had access to it first. Then Android users got access to it. And now its time for Windows Phone users to join the party.

As of this week, Windows Phone users can enjoy Instagram on their mobile devices. If you have a Windows Phone and you’re anxious to get started with Instagram, you can get the app for free from Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store.

I usually start out with a brief presentation – in this case, a brief presentation of Instagram. But seeing that Instagram’s popularity has soared recently, seeing that there are more than 150 million Instagram users out there, I really don’t see the point. Everyone is familiar with Instagram and everyone knows how to use it to share images and videos. So since there’s no point in presenting Instagram, I’ll focus on what’s new.

Instagram added a new entry to the list of supported operating systems: Windows Phone. This means that Windows Phone users can now join the party and enjoy the functionality iOS and Android users have been enjoying for quite some time.

Instagram for Windows Phone – Main Features
  • Full front and back camera support.
  • Take photos and shoot videos.
  • Lots of custom designed filters to choose from.
  • Linear and Radial Tilt-Shift blur effects.
  • Share media on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and Foursquare.
  • Like and comment on other people’s photos and videos.
  • Unlimited uploads.

The Instagram app is available for free on Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store.
Please note though that it still carries the Beta tag.

“We wanted to make Instagram available to people with Windows Phones as quickly as possible, so we focused on creating an awesome experience with Instagram’s core features. We’re not finished, and our team will continue developing the Windows Phone app to keep releasing features and bringing you the best Instagram possible,” explained the Instagram team.
