Instagram Direct: Share Photos, Videos with a Select Group

The Instagram app for iOS and Android has been updated to version 5.0. This new version introduces a new feature called Instagram Direct.

What Instagram Direct does is it lets you share photos and/or videos with a select group of people. These photos will not show up in your feed or in your profile, they will be sent to the people you specify.

The Instagram app has just recently been updated to version 5.0 and that is exciting news because the update brings with it a new feature called Instagram Direct. This feature introduces a new means of sharing photos and videos with others. It introduces a means of sharing photos and videos with a select group of people.

You can send photos and videos to certain people and you can see the photos and videos that people have sent directly to you.


On the share screen you have two options: share with all your followers (Followers) or share with a specific group of people (Direct). Select the Direct option and you can send photos/videos to specific people.

Tap the new icon in the top right hand corner of your home feed and you will be presented with your inbox. the photos and videos people sent directly to you will be displayed in this inbox. Photos sent by people you follow will show up immediately in your inbox; photos from people you don’t follow will go to your requests and you can decide if you want to view it or not.

You can enjoy the new Instagram Direct feature if you have Instagram 5.0 for iOS or Instagram 5.0 for Android.

Instagram is also available for Windows Phone, but the Windows Phone version is in still in Beta. The Instagram Direct feature for this platform will be rolled out in the future. While they wait, Windows Phone users can play 'Despicable Me: Minion Rush', a new game that recently made it to the Windows Phone Store.
