Japan-based leading manufacturer of electronic products Sharp has recently announced that it launched the Sharp SH0037D (details here) and the Sharp SH6017D (details here) mobile phones on the Indian market. Opera Software, the Norwegian software developer behind the Opera web browser, was glad to announce that Opera Mini comes pre-installed on these devices.

Indian users who get the Sharp SH0037D or the Sharp SH6017D, will be able to easily browse the web with the Opera Mini browser, a browser that’s used by more than 80 million people all over the world. With so many users, Opera Mini can truly be called the world’s most widely used mobile browser.

Not only will Indian users be able to easily surf the web, they will do so at a very rapid pace. Opera Mini can offer exceptional browsing speeds thanks to Opera’s original rendering engine and server-side data compression technology. Furthermore, Opera Mini comes with tabs, URL auto-complete and it highlights keywords – all these features help the user find the info he is looking for at a rapid pace.

“There is no doubt that the mobile phone revolution has embraced India and to compliment that we have also seen exponential growth in mobile data traffic in the country. We are happy to be a part of this revolution in enabling mobile Internet and partner with a company such as Sharp as it introduces these two phones for the Indian market”, said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software ASA.

The latest stable version of Opera for the desktop computer is Opera 11. It comes with a new tab stacking feature, extensions, a new bookmarks bar, a safer address field, plug-ins can be set to load on demand, extensions and Opera Unite applications can automatically update themselves, and enhanced mouse gestures. Opera 11 Final was released to the public this December and turned out to be a big success. Proof of that is the fact that In just one day after its launch, Opera 11 was downloaded a total of 6.7 million times.

I mentioned Opera 11 to make this point: if you won’t get the Sharp SH0037D or the Sharp SH6017D, you can get Opera 11 for your desktop and enjoy all the functionality this properly good browser has to offer. You can download the browser straight from Opera here.
