Hundreds of Job Openings at Skype
Good news for software engineers who are looking for a job: Skype is looking to hire! Hundreds of job openings are available at Skype. By the end of the summer you could work at one of Skype's offices around the world.
The company confirmed on Friday, June 8th, that the reports in the media are true and that it does indeed have some 400 job openings. “Not only are these rumors true, but we need to add all of those jobs by the end of the summer,” explained Andy Crisp, who works on behalf of Skype at Grayling PR Agency in the UK.
Skype is growing at a very rapid pace. Just to put things in perspective, here are some numbers: on a monthly basis, some 250 million users connect with others using Skype. Those 250 million connected users logged more than 100 billion minutes of calls for the past three months. That is a significant increase of 40% compared to the same period last year.
The fact that Skype’s popularity is growing is a good thing – it is in line with the company’s dream of enabling the world's conversations. The thing is that to keep up with the growth, Skype needs to bring more people on its team. Skype also needs to enlarge its team so that it can enhance and improve its offering. That is why some 400 positions need to be filled by the end of the summer.
“Between now and the end of the summer, we're looking for software engineers and developers who eat, sleep and drink great technology,” commented Dan Hynes, Skype's Head of Staffing.
“We want those people with a unique combination of talent and passion to work on exciting projects at our global headquarters in Palo Alto and our other bleeding-edge global offices in London, Stockholm, Tallinn, Prague and Moscow,” added Andy Crisp. “We're on the hunt for talented people who share our desire to create the exciting technologies that not only empower people to be closer to family, friends and colleagues, but literally change people's lives and the way that companies do business in the future.”
So if you’re a software engineer and you think you fit the bill, you could get a job with Skype. Check out all the available job offers at jobs.skype.com.
