Great news for all the iPhone users out there! Skype updated the Skype app for iOS to version 5.4; this new version comes with the option to host group audio calls for up to 4 people.

Skype 5.4 lets you turn a chat, audio call or video call into a group audio call. Up to 4 people can talk to one another at the same time.

Say you want to talk to Tom, Jerry, and George via Skype on your iPhone. Until now, you had to talk to them one at a time, because group audio calls were not supported. As of September 2014, this is no longer the case. You see, Skype updated the iOS app earlier this September. The latest release, Skype 5.4, comes with the option to start audio calls.

There are several means of starting a group audio call from your iPhone. You can turn a chat, you can turn an audio call, and you can turn a video call into a group audio call. Please note that up to 4 people can take part in the group audio call. Getting back to Tom, Jerry, and George, I’m glad to say that you can now talk to all of them at the same time with Skype on your iPhone.

Skype 5.4 – Main New Features
  • Host group audio calls for up to 4 people.
  • You have the option to add people to an existing call.
  • You have the option to remove people from an existing call.
  • Accessibility improvements: new messages are now read out from anywhere in the app; delete recent conversations using the VoiceOver rotor.
