When you get a call, Facebook’s new Hello app for Android tells you who is on the other end of the line. Hello will bring up this information even if you don’t have the caller’s number saved in your phone.

If a friend is on the other end of the line, friend who is calling to invite you to his birthday party, Hello will notify you about it. This way you’ll know to say “happy birthday” when you take the call.

That’s part of the functionality Facebook’s new Hello app has to offer. Here’s a detailed look at everything this handy Android app can do.

Facebook Hello – Main Features
  • Caller ID – Hello tells you who is calling you. It does this if you have the caller’s number in your phone and if you don’t have the caller’s number in your phone.
  • Call blocking – block unwanted calls with a simple tap on the screen, automatically block calls from commonly blocked numbers,
  • Info & notifications – the app presents the latest information about your contacts; it also presents useful notifications, like birthday reminders.
  • Search & call – search for people and places/businesses. Search for a restaurant for example and the app will show you its hours, let you call it, and show you how to get there.
  • Messenger integration – Hello integrates with Facebook’s Messenger, meaning that you can use Messenger to call and text people.
  • Browse Facebook – open a Facebook profile or page.
  • Add & edit contacts – add and edit contacts just like you already do on your phone.
Hello is a Facebook Creative Labs app built by the Messenger team. The app connects to Facebook to provide the functionality mentioned above.
