RedOctane’s Guitar Hero game may be a big hit with gamers all over the world, but it is not so popular with the people that actually make rock music. One such band is the Canadian rock group Nickelback. In a recent interview with Jay Leno, Chad Kroeger has urged the legions of teen players to put down the game and instead go out and play for real.

Chad Kroeger, lead vocals with Nickelback, comments: “I feel like there's not enough rock bands out there, especially when we go on the road. It's tough to find other bands out there, because either they're making a record or they just got done touring. So kids: Start rock bands. Set down the Guitar Hero, learn how to play an actual guitar and start a band, because it's hard to find more bands to put a solid rock-and-roll package together, to get out there. It's getting harder and harder, but I think we've done it.”

This week the Canadian rock band that is signed with the EMI Group (EMI is short for Electric and Musical Industries) and Roadrunner Records, put out a new album called “Dark Horse”. This would be the band’s sixth album, following “Curb” (1996), “The State” (2000), “Silver Side Up” (2001), “The Long Road” (2003), and “All the Right Reasons” (2005).

From the new album Nickelback already released the single entitled “Gotta Be Somebody”, although according to the original plans the track “If Today Was Your Last Day” should have been the first to hit the airwaves. It must be noted that in producing “Dark Horse” Nickelback brought Robert John Lange (a.k.a Mutt Lange) on board.

As of February 2009, Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair will take their new album on tour. Seether and Saving Abel are the supporting acts that are rumored to go on tour alongside Nickelback.
