The opportunity to grab a marketing position with Wolfram Alpha, the computational knowledge engine developed by British-born physicist and Mathematica creator Stephen Wolfram, has just opened up. This internship position is meant for “talented and ambitious students” that have aced their business and marketing courses, so if you like Wolfram Alpha and would like to but your marketing skills to the test, this may be the internship for you.

“We’re looking for highly motivated candidates, especially those with a business, marketing, engineering, or management information systems background, and students of other majors who are interested in product marketing. The goal of your assignment is to increase the awareness and use of Wolfram|Alpha. Preference will be given to candidates who have done some outrageous marketing before for school events, sports, etc,” explained the Wolfram Alpha team.

Here are some additional details about the internship program I thought you might want to be made aware of. For easy access, I decided to go for a Q&A form.

How long will the internship program last?
A full semester.

Where will the internship program be conducted?

What’s integrated in the program?
You can expect the program to integrate academic theory as well as scenario-based practice. You will have to take mid-level business decisions as well as analyze the results of your marketing campaign.

What do I get out of this?
If the internship goes smoothly you can become eligible to interview for a full-time position with the Wolfram Alpha PR department (or other department). This is a paid position in Champaign, Illinois.
