Great news from Google: Google Earth Pro, the advanced version of Google Earth, is now free. If Google used to charge $399 per year, the company is now offering Google Earth Pro for free.

You can download Google Earth Pro right here on FindMySoft (or straight from Google here). When prompted for a license key, use your email address and the key GEPFREE to sign in.

Google Earth is a very useful tool. I often use it to view maps, to check out satellite imagery, and even to explore the depths of the ocean.

Alongside Google Earth, there’s an advanced version called Google Earth Pro. As expected, it has some advanced features to offer, features meant for businesses users: batch geocode addresses, create premium movies, access a map making tool, print high-resolution images, and so on.

Google Earth Pro used to be priced at $399 per year. I say “used to” because Google recently announced that it dropped the paid subscription and is offering Google Earth Pro for free.

“Starting today, even more people will be able to access Google Earth Pro: we're making it available for free. To see what Earth Pro can do for you—or to just have fun flying around the world—grab a free key and download Earth Pro today. If you're an existing user, your key will continue to work with no changes required,” announced Stafford Marquardt, Product Manager, Google Earth Pro.

“Whether you're planning a new office building or a trip to the mountains, check out Google Earth Pro and see how easy it is to visualize your world,” Stafford Marquardt added.

To get started with Google Earth Pro, you will have to download and install the software on your PC or Mac. You can download it straight from Google by following this link. To activate your copy Google Earth Pro, use the key GEPFREE.

In related news, you may want to know that Microsoft’s WorldWide Telescope (WWT), the software that can turn your PC into a virtual telescope, has gone open-source.
