Good news for all of you who have a Sprint Nexus s 4G: you can forget about your wallet and let your mobile device become your new wallet. You can do that because Google announced that the first version of its Google Wallet app has been released to all Sprint Nexus S 4G devices as an over-the-air update.

“Google Wallet enables you to pay with your Citi MasterCard credit card and the Google Prepaid Card, which can be funded with any of your existing plastic credit cards. As a thanks to early adopters, we’re adding a $10 free bonus to the Google Prepaid Card if you set it up in Google Wallet before the end of the year,” announced Vice President of Payments with Google, Osama Bedier.

Google Wallet was announced back in May. Google said at the time that it’s working on an app that will transform your phone into a wallet, an app that will allow you to tap and pay for anything you want to purchase. You can pay for your purchase using your Citi MasterCard credit card, the Google Prepaid Card, or with gift cards (at participating merchants). More payment options will be added in the future.

That’s not all the app does – it can also help you save money. It does that by automatically redeeming offers and earning loyalty points for you. All your Google Offers will automatically sync to your Google Wallet whenever your buy or save a Google Offer, which should help you save money as well.

Google’s partners on the Google Wallet endeavor are Citi, MasterCard, First Data, and Sprint. Visa, Discover and American Express lent a helping hand by making their NFC specifications available so that their cards could be added to Google Wallet in the future. NFC stands for near field communication; it’s the tech Google Wallet uses to make payments.
