Google Rolls Out New Photos App for iOS, Android, Web

Photos, a new Google product that carries the tagline “one home for all your photos – organized and easy to find,” is a new mobile and web app that will help you store an unlimited number of photos and videos, keep all your stuff nicely organized, enhance your photos, share photos and videos with others, and even create collages and animations.

“We’re introducing Google Photos—a new, standalone product that gives you a home for all your photos and videos, helps you organize and bring your moments to life, and lets you share and save what matters,” announced Anil Sabharwal, Head of Google Photos.

Google recently introduced Photos, a new mobile and web app that puts the emphasis on helping you manage your collection of photos and videos. If you’re familiar with the Google+ Photos app, which will continue to exist by the way, you’ll see that Photos is very similar. Here’s a look at its main features.

  • A lifetime of memories – you can store an unlimited number of photos and videos to Google Photos for free! More info about Google Photos' storage options is available here.
  • High quality photos and videos – Photos maintains the original resolution up to 16MP for photos and 1080p high-definition for videos.
  • Everything nicely organized – Photos automatically organizes your memories based on location, things, people, and so on.
  • Quickly find photos – the app’s visual search function will help you find whatever photo you’re looking for.
  • Enhance and combine photos – automatically adjust photos to make them look better, combine photos to create collages, use your photos to create animations or movies.
  • Share your memories – share your photos and videos via Twitter, Whatsapp, Hangouts Facebook, and more. You can share individual photos, a group of photos, or an entire album.




The new Google Photos is available as an Android app, as an iPhone app, and as web app.

Google announced that Google+ Photos will be shut down. The shutdown will happen in stages starting on August 1st.
