Today, March 6th, Google Play turns 1. To celebrate this joyous occasion, Google is presenting Android users with a festive selection of apps. This is a limited-time offer, so act fast!

There was a time when Google delivered apps to Android users via the aptly named Android Market. People keeping track of these things will remember that the Android market was initially rolled out to the public back in October 2008. Four years later, the Android Market and the Google Music service merged, thus giving birth to what we now know as Google Play. The birth of Google Play was on March 6th, 2012 – since today is March 6th, 2013, it means that Google Play just turned 1.

This is a joyous occasion for Google, one that deserves to be celebrated properly. What better way to do so than to present Android users all over the world with some nice special deals on apps
  • $15 gift card for your first order with the Fancy app
  • 10% discount for the Hotels.com app
  • Exclusive characters for the Yumby Smash game
  • An all-new world with unique characters and quests in the Gnome Village app
  • A custom birthday-wish themed map, a unique item and 50% savings on in-game goodies for the Royal Revolt app
  • 50% discount on the Final Fantasy Dimensions game.
  • And More.

Google is offering a week of deals and discounts in its media and app store. You can find out more here and, of course, on Google Play.

“It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content. Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts. Don’t delay in picking up these limited-time offers. It’s been an incredible first year and we look forward to sharing the gift of digital diversions for many more to come,” said Google.
