Google Introduced the Limited-edition Skrillex Live Case for Android Phones
Is Skrillex relevant anymore? Google certainly thinks so since it kicked off the Editions series with some Skrillex-themed cases for Android phones.
Mind you, these are “live cases” that connect to your phone and provide VIP access to Skrillex content, have a built-in shortcut button that provides one-touch access to Skrillex’s music feed on YouTube, and feature a companion live wallpaper that extends the case’s design onto the phone’s screen. The live wallpaper updates throughout the day, presenting stunning images of Earth shot from the stratosphere.
Google’s Editions is a new series of creative collaborations, a new initiative that wants to introduce limited-edition cases for Android smartphones.
Google kicked off this initiative by collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Skrillex. And the result is the limited-edition Skrillex Live Case that features three unique designs inspired by the artist's lifelong fascination with space. Here’s a closer look.
Skrillex Live Case – Space Shield (metallic finish)
Skrillex Live Case – Circuit Bae (matte finish)
Skrillex Live Case – Lil Planet (metallic finish)
As mentioned above, these Skrillex-themed live cases feature a companion live wallpaper that presents stunning images of Earth. These images were shot by launching a custom-designed balloon satellite into the stratosphere. Named Nanou after Skrillex’s dog, this satellite will be offered as a prize in an upcoming giveaway. Skrillex will, as expected, autograph the satellite.
The Skrillex Live Case is compatible with the following Android devices: Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6, and Samsung Note 4.
The Skrillex Live Case is available for purchase from the Google Store. Prices start at $40. Each case is individually numbered.
