Google announced recently that it updated the Google+ app for Android-powered devices to version 2.6 and that this updated version comes with numerous features the users have been asking for. One such feature is the ability to start a hangout on the go.

With Google+ version 2.4 you can start a hangout from your mobile device, no matter where you are. All you have to do is tap Hangout from the navigation ribbon, select a few friends, and then hit Start. These friends will be contacted so they can join the hangout.

Another highly-requested feature was the ability to edit posts inline – you can do that with version 2.4 of the Google+ app. Something else the users wanted was an enhanced stream that does justice to the rich content that is shared on Google+. Google says that with the updated version of the app, you can “feel awesome” after sharing your favorites. Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President, explains:

“When you share with your circles, we owe you an experience that's both intimate and immersive. Your time and your relationships are precious, after all, so your posts should make you feel proud. Today's new Android app takes this to heart, with full-screen media in the stream, conversations that fade into view and instantly-touchable actions like +1.”

I mentioned above that to start a hangout you must tap Hangout from the navigation ribbon – this navigation ribbon, that slides in and out, is a new feature. Google implemented the navigation ribbon to give you easy access to the app’s functionality and thus help you get things done faster.

Another new feature that Google+ version 2.6 has to offer is the ability to download photos from Google+ and set them as the wallpaper.

If you want to get the Google+ v. 2.6 app, you can grab it from Google Play here.
