Facebook’s new Rooms app, which has recently been updated to version 1.2, invites us to go explore.

The app has been around for about a month and a half and during all this time, users created thousands of rooms for a wide variety of topics. Since there are so many rooms now, it can be challenging to find and join interesting ones. That’s why Rooms 1.2 comes with a new Explore button. Click this new button and you will be presented with several interesting rooms.

“Starting today, we’re giving you an easier way to discover and join these communities. In Rooms v1.2, you’ll notice a new “Explore” button in the top-left of the app. Navigate there to take a peek at a handful of awesome rooms and join them with a single tap! We hope you find a room that resonates with you,” announced the Rooms team.

Presented to the public late October, Rooms is a Facebook Creative Labs app that lets you create rooms for the things you like. If you’re not familiar with this app, here’s a quick look at its main features:
  • Create a room – you can create a room for any topic that interests you. A room is a feed of photos, videos, as well as text.
  • Customize and control your room – Facebook designed Rooms as a flexible creative tool. Consequently, you can control almost every aspect of your room. You can add a cover photo, customize member permissions, change the text, and more. Facebook explained that it will continue to add more customizable features and ways to tweak rooms.
  • Use any nickname you want – you can use a nickname when you’re in a room and you can use different nicknames for different rooms. Facebook invites you to liberate yourself from your daily self and become whoever you want to be. You are free to pick any nickname you want.
  • Explore awesome rooms – click the Explore button and you will be presented with several awesome rooms. You can then easily join any room that captures your attention.
