The Internet Archive is a non-profit organization founded with the aim of creating an internet library and giving the general public, researchers, historians, scholars, and so on, easy access to historical collections that are available in digital format. The Internet Archive has so far created an impressive digital library that includes a variety of free books, movies, music, software, and archived web pages.

The news is that the Internet Archive announced on Tuesday, August 8th, that over 1 million files can be freely downloaded by using BitTorrent (or another torrent client).

To put it in other words, over 1 million torrents that include books, music, and movies can be downloaded for free from the Internet Archive. Just click the torrent link at the bottom of the download box to start the download.

“The Internet Archive is now offering over 1,000,000 torrents including our live music concerts, the Prelinger movie collection, the librivox audio book collection, feature films, old time radio, lots and lots of books, and all new uploads from our patrons into Community collections (with more to follow),” announced the Internet Archive via it’s official blog on Tuesday.

“We’re committed to building a sustainable future that empowers creative content, effects the social good and ultimately persuades institutional change,” commented Eric Klinker, BitTorrent's Chief Executive Officer. “We were happy to find that our interests align with those of the Internet Archive as we strive to protect and maintain society’s cultural artifacts – creating new ways to discover media and share it worldwide. Combined with the vast amount of content from the Internet Archive and the size and scope of the BitTorrent community, this is truly a worthy cause and we look forward to continuing to build new content solutions for the digital world.”
