Opera Software announced that the final version of Opera Mail has been rolled out to the public. Since the introduction of Opera Next, this is a standalone mail client that works outside the Opera browser.

One of the new changes that Opera Next brought to the table was the fact that the Opera desktop browser parted ways with its built-in email client – Opera Mail became a standalone, separate application that could be used on the desktop. The news is that earlier this week Opera Software announced the release of the final Opera Mail version. Get it and enjoy a lightweight, customizable mail client that works outside the Opera browser.

“This lean and mean email machine is lightweight, nimble and focused on one thing and one thing only - handling e-mail better than ever. Simple yet powerful, Opera Mail is designed to help you get the better of your inbox,” said Community Manager for Opera, Aleksander Aas. “So much functionality in a free product, you say. Incredible. Take me to the download link immediately!”

Before you go get the application, let’s take a quick look at its main features.

Opera Mail Main Features
  • Elegant tabs – thanks to the tabbed interface you can open emails in multiple tabs and thus easily switch from one email to another.
  • Threaded view – this feature is meant to help you organize your mail, easily follow any discussions you are a part of. When you’re done with a mail thread, just click on Ignore Thread.
  • Sort Messages – keep things nicely organized by assigning labels to your mails and by using automatic filters.
  • Feeds – the email client features a built-in feed reader. When new content is added to the websites you keep track of, the feed reader will notify you.
