Skype for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 has recently been updated to version 2.24. For the first time ever, Skype lets you communicate with others by using drawings. That’s right, Skype 2.24 lets you draw anything you want on your Windows Phone’s screen.

“Today we’re excited to release Skype 2.24 for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, which brings drawing to Skype for the first time! Get creative and draw on a canvas, add silly touches to a photo or draw the fastest route on a map and share it with your friends and family,” announced Lara Kingwell, Product Marketing Manager at Skype.

If you’re in a chat and you want to start drawing, you must tap the “+” icon and then select “drawing.” You can then draw the fastest route on a map, have a bit of fun by drawing on someone’s face, you can express your creativity, you can draw anything you want with Skype 2.24 for Windows Phone.

Skype 2.24 also comes with a few other changes: support for HD screens, faster app resume time (Windows Phone 8.1 only), and sign in improvements. Lara Kingwell explains:

“On Windows Phone 8.1, to save time you can now automatically sign in using the Microsoft Account linked to your phone. Plus, we’ve heard existing users ask for the flexibility to sign in with their Skype account, so we’ve added the ability to do this too. Don’t forget to link your Skype account to your Microsoft Account to fully experience improved security, privacy and password recovery.

In related news, the iOS version of Skype has recently been updated to version 5.6. Skype 5.6 for iOS has been optimized to work with every iPhone screen size and it provides native resolution support for the larger screens of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
