The groovy arcade fun never stops with Funky Smugglers, an iOS, Mac, and Android game that tasks you with keeping the airport safe by keeping the smugglers from getting wacky contraband past the check point.

The premise behind the 11 bit studios-developed app Funky Smugglers is a simple one: smugglers will try to sneak all sorts of wacky contraband past the checkpoint; it is up to you to make sure they aren’t successful. Using an X-ray scanner you can see through their clothes and luggage, uncover whatever they’re trying to smuggle through, and get rid of the contraband.

You thwart the smugglers by tapping and swiping away the contraband, either with one swipe or with finger-twisting multitouch that earns you combos. The magnet and various other powerups help you be more efficient at doing away with hammers, scissors, and other illegal goods. The in-game cash you earn can be used on getting new contraband, new smugglers, upgrades, and so on.

There are two ways to play the game: you could go with some challenging single player missions or you could try the cross-platform team battles. The game’s Multiplayer Battle feature pits two teams in a knock down fight against one another. The score earned during a team battle goes towards supporting said team.

From an audiovisual point of view, Funky Smugglers has a distinct groovy feel. The game uses funky graphics and a very nice 70s style soundtrack that plays in the background while you’re busy getting uber-multiple combos. So to sum it up, Funky Smugglers puts you in a groovy environment and presents you with fast-paced arcade action that can prove to be quite addictive.
