App creators have to wait between 10 and 15 days to have their apps approved and posted on Apple’s App Store. But the creators of the French “Je Suis Charlie” app did not have to wait that long. The app was approved in record time – just 1 hour.

The app creators personally emailed Apple CEO Tim Cook and requested a prompt App Store approval. Just 10 minutes later, one of Cook’s assistants responded to the email. An hour later, the app was published on the App Store.

Je Suis Charlie, a free app for apple’s iOS mobile operating system, performs a simple task: it lets people from all over the world show solidarity with France after the terrorist attack in Paris. As I’m sure you already know, last week terrorists attacked Charlie Hebdo, a weekly newspaper that had caricatured the Prophet Muhammad.

What’s interesting about the Je Suis Charlie app is that it made it onto the App Store in record time. While other app developers have to wait anywhere between 10 and 15 days to be approved, the developers of this app had to wait for just one hour.

Since the app is directly tied to the events in France, it was crucial that I got approved as fast as possible. With that in mind, the app creators went straight to the top – they contacted Apple CEO Tim Cook via email and requested a prompt App Store approval. Lucky for them, they got a response from one of Tim Cook’s assistants in mere 10 minutes after sending the initial email. And only an hour later, Je Suis Charlie was on Apple’s App Store.

Here’s the link to the Je Suis Charlie app on Apple’s App Store.
The app is free, works with iOS 7.0 or newer, it is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
