Free and Useful Apps You Should Get: Merriam Webster Dictionary HD for iPad

I remember that when I was a young boy, my English lit teacher would often times say something like this: “Whenever I hear a new word, I go to the dictionary and look it up. You kids should do the same when you come across a word you don’t want know it means.”

No thank you Miss Morgan, I’d much rather stay away from hardcopy dictionaries and use something else instead. In this day and age, instead of using old school methods I’d rather use top quality tech and top quality software to get things done.

In this situation I would much rather use the Merriam-Webster Dictionary HD app that works with any iPad powered by iOS 3.2 or later. The app made it to the App Store only a few days ago and its offered free of charge (ad-supportd) to English-speaking iPad user. This is definitely a free and useful app you should get.

Should you decide to get the free Merriam-Webster Dictionary HD app, here is the sort of functionality you can expect to get:
- Access to all the definitions from Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.
- Access to synonyms, antonyms, example sentences and so on.
- Word of the Day.
- Look up words by speaking them out instead of spelling them (voice search).
- The app’s scrolling index lets you browse the entire dictionary.
- See the words you recently looked up in the Recent History.
- Hide the navigation buttons so that you can focus on the text.

The simple truth of the matter is that this is a must-have application. It is an enhanced, iPad-friendly version of the Merriam-Webster app for the iPhone and iPod Touch
