Free Cloud Storage Space for Google Drive and OneDrive

Tuesday, the 10th of February, was Safer Internet Day 2015 and to mark the occasion, Google invited all of its customers to take a security checkup. By taking this security checkup you can review various information about yourself and your Google account: add a phone number so Google can contact you if you get locked out of your account, get a quick overview of your recent sign-ins to Google, see which apps, websites, and devices are linked to your account.

To encourage you to take the security checkup, to thank you for taking the security checkup, Google will add 2GB to your Google Drive storage plan. Complete this security checkup by February 17 and you get an extra 2GB of cloud storage space. Google says it should take you less than 2 minutes to complete the checkup, but it only took me some 30 seconds to go through it.

Please note that your extra 2GB of Google Drive cloud storage space will show up around the end of the month, around February 28. Please note that Google Apps for Work and Google Apps for Education users are not eligible for the bonus storage

Microsoft is also giving away free cloud storage space. But things aren’t a simple as with Google. There are a lot of “ifs”. You can get 100GB of free OneDrive storage for 2 years if you’re from the US, if you’re a member of the Bing Rewards program, and if you agree to receive promotional emails from OneDrive. If you’re okay with all these ifs, access the Bing Rewards dashboard and claim your 100GB of free OneDrive storage.

Click here to join the Bing Rewards program. You need only search with Bing to earn credits; and then you can use those credits to get free stuff, like gift cards from Amazon.com for example.
