Four Fun Apps for the Guys

If you’re a guy and you want to check out a few fun apps for your iPhone, then you need to check out the four apps I’ve briefly presented below. The four apps are Sonar – Mobile Profile for Local Social Networking, Brotips, Booze Death Calculator, and Shake-a-Phrase. Let’s take a quick look at these apps and see what they have to offer (click the app’s name to go to the App Store).

Sonar – Mobile Profile for Local Social Networking
Price: Free
Compatible with: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on iOS 4.2 or later.

What it does: ever walk into a room and you said to yourself “that guy over there and those girls over there look kind of familiar. Wonder where I met them before.” This app aims to provide an answer to your dilemma. The app uses publicly available information to show you how you are connected with the people around you. As Sonar Media founder Brett Martin explained at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, the app will tell you “that the guy sitting across from you is Facebook friends with your college roommate, the dude by the jukebox is a VC that you follow on twitter, and the cute girl by the bar also likes the Arcade Fire and Hemingway.”

Brotips
Price: Free
Compatible with: iPhone, iPod touch and iPad on iOS 3.2 or later.
What it does: it provides easy access to Brotips, a site that is full of useful (more funny than useful) bro tips. Like bro tip #613: don’t let bros take shots alone. Or bro tip #602: don’t do something permanently stupid just because you’re temporarily upset. The app gives you easy access to all exsting bro tips and lets you read new tips as soon as they are posed. Shake your iOS device and the app will present a random tip.

Booze Death Calculator
Price: $0.99
What it does: as mentioned above in bro tip #613, bros don’t take shots alone. The Booze Death Calculator app lets you calculate how many drinks you can have until you will die from alcohol poisoning. The app takes your weight, the amount of time it takes you to finish a drink, and the type of drink your having into consideration.

Shake-a-Phrase
Price: $1.99
Compatible with: iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on iOS 3.0 or later.
What it does: this app should prove to be funny when you’ve had a few drinks. Tap the “Shake It” option and after you shake your iOS device, the app will create a random sentence. The developer says the app is meant to teach vocabulary to children 8+. There’s only one way I can respond to that: we’re all children at heart, especially after a few drinks.
