The newly introduced Flipboard Daydream feature lets Android 4.2 users create a screensaver that is made up of Flipboard covers.

Flipboard, the social magazine app that presents all your news and other relevant content in a centralized location, has been recently updated and the exciting bit is that the update brings an interesting bit of functionality for anyone who has a mobile device powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The latest Flipboard release makes it possible to create a screensaver made out of Flipboard covers. This new feature is called Flipboard Daydream.

“With today’s Android update, users operating Android 4.2 get an exciting new addition: Flipboard Daydream, which turns Flipboard covers into a “screensaver” for your tablet or phone. Until now, Flipboard’s signature covers could only be visible on the tablet edition,” announced the Flipboard team via the official Inside Flipboard blog.

To activate the aforementioned Fliboard Daydream feature on your Android 4.2-powered device you must go to Settings -> Display -> Daydream. You will get a preview if you select Flipboard and then tap Start Now. If you don’t use a dock to charge your smartphone, select the While Charging option from the When to Daydream menu.

“Now, when your device is inactive, you can get lost in the dreamy beauty of Flipboard covers. Share covers you love with us and/or let us know what you think of the feature by tweeting to @flipboard,” added the Flipboard team.

If you’re not familiar with the Flipboard app, let me give you a quick explanation: the app pulls information from social media sites, news siste, and various other sites and presents it to you in magazine format; you can easily flip through the stories, news, posts, and photos the app presents to you. Additional information on Flipboard, an app that I consider to be a must have, is available here.
