Not too long ago we were announcing that a grand total of seven Europe-based companies decided to join The Linux Foundation and invest in protecting, promoting and advancing the Linux operating system across industries and throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The seven new members who joined the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux not long ago are Codethink, KeyPoint Technologies, Lanedo, Meinberg Funkuhren, Picochip, Puzzle ITC and RPA RusBITech.

Today we are glad to announce that five more European companies have decided to join The Linux Foundation with the aim of collaborating to advance Linux in the enterprise and in mobile computing.

The five companies in question are, as follows:
  • AboveIT, a Dutch ICT integrator that implements the newest open source technology while optimizing business processes for the Small and Medium Business (SMB), enterprise, government, education and embedded systems markets.
  • Comarch, an active player in the mobile and embedded software domains since 2001..
  • CSR, a leading global provider of personal wireless technology, including Bluetooth, GPS, FM and Wi-Fi to industry leaders in consumer electronics, mobile handsets and the automotive industry.
  • Symbio, a global software R&D company that provides software product engineering to industry leaders in mobile phones, consumer electronics, automotive In-Vehicle-Infotainment (IVI), industrial systems, and internet and cloud services.
  • Tieto, company that provides IT and product engineering services.

Vice President of Marketing and Developer Programs with The Linux Foundation, Amanda McPherson, had this to comment on AboveIT, Comarch, CSR, Symbio and Tieto joining The Linux Foundation:

“Europe is a hotbed for Linux and open source development and business, which is why we created LinuxCon Europe and why we’re so excited to welcome more members from this region. We’re looking forward to the collaboration opportunities with AboveIT, Comarch, CSR, Symbio and Tieto this week and in year ahead.”
