Mozilla is currently rolling out version 18 of its popular Firefox browser. Among the new features Firefox 18.0 brings to the table is support for Retina Display on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and up.

The latest Firefox version, version 18.0, is currently being rolled out to the masses – Windows users can get the popular Mozilla-developed browser right here on FindMySoft, for free of course. This latest Firefox release brings three new features to the table:
  • Retina Display Support – the browser supports Retina Display on devices powered by Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and up.
  • Improved performance – faster JavaScript performance is delivered by the IonMonkey compiler.
  • WebRTC Prelim Support – Firefox 18 comes with preliminary support for WebRTC, an open source project aiming to enable the web with Real Time Communication (RTC) capabilities.
Check out the Firefox 18 release notes and you will notice that it comes with a few interesting changes and fixes: better image quality via the new HTML scaling algorithm, tab switching performance improvements, improved startup time by smart handling signed extension certificates, improved responsiveness for users on proxies, insecure content loading on HTTPS pages has been disabled, implemented support for W3C touch events (replaces MozTouch events), support for new DOM property window, devicePixelRatio.

As you may already know, Firefox automatically updates itself and you can also manually trigger a download by going to Help -> About Firefox. If you’re on Firefox 17 and you’re presented with a “Firefox is up to date” when you go to About Firefox, you can take one of two roads. You can wait until Firefox 18 is rolled out to you, or you can get Firefox 18 for Windows from FindMySoft here.

Firefox’s looks, feel, and functionality can be enhanced with add-ons. I only bring this up so that I can mention this related bit of info: Mozilla released a top 12 Firefox add-ons of 2012 list. You can check it out here.
