World-renowned security company Kaspersky Lab just announced that it has a new and free Android app to offer: Kaspersky Phound!

Kaspersky came up with this name by mixing together the words “phone” and “hound.” Why hound and not something else? For the simple reason that Kaspersky Phound! will help you find your lost Android device.

“For many users, mobile devices serve as storage for their most valuable and important data – contacts of friends and colleagues, personal messages, private photos and many other things. This means that today’s smartphones and tablets need the same security as a bank vault. However, unlike bank vaults, smartphones are small, portable and easily misplaced. That is why we created a solution for our users to prevent their mobile ‘vault’ from falling into the wrong hands,” said Alexey Chikov, Senior Product Manager, Kaspersky Lab.

Kaspersky Phound! – Main Features
  • Block lost devices – prevent unauthorized access to your lost Android device by remotely blocking it.
  • Find lost devices – use GPS, GSM or Wi-Fi networks to locate your lost Android device.
  • Alarm sound – your lost Android device will play a loud alarm sound, thus helping you locate it.
  • Take pictures – remotely take pictures with your Android’s front camera.
  • Lost message – you can set it so your lost Android displays a message on the screen.
  • Remove all personal data – if there’s no way of getting your Android back, you can remotely remove all personal data from it.
  • My Kaspersky Portal – visit the My Kaspersky portal and remotely control your Android devices and the data stored on them.
  • Availability – Phound! is available for free on Google Play. It is available in 8 languages.
