Update October 11: You can now personalize the Custom Sharing feature. You can pick and choose which icons will be displayed by Custom Sharing.

When Feedly Pro was launched, the team behind the RSS reader explained that new features will be added over time. Custom Sharing is one of those new features.

On Monday, October 7, 2013, the Feedly team introduced a new feature for Freedly Pro, the paid and more powerful version of Feedly. The new feature in question is called Custom Sharing and it “allows you to integrate your Feedly with a variety of services to directly save or share articles.”

You can use the newly introduced Custom Sharing feature to send articles to Pinboard, publish articles via HootSuite, send articles to RTM (Remember The Milk), create a Google Bookmark, create an event in Google Calendar, shorten the article URL with bit.ly, open the article with Google Translate, or blog to WordPress.

Custom Sharing can be configure from Preferences –> Sharing –> Custom Sharing.

To access the Custom Sharing feature click the paper airplane looking icon from the upper right hand corner.

Feedly is a great RSS reader and a properly good alternative to the now defunct Google Reader. The paid Pro version, which was introduced in August 2013, comes with the following extra features:
  • Search – you can search within your feeds.
  • Security – you can browse on an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • Speed – get updates from small sites 30 minutes faster.
  • Evernote – with a mouse click you can save to content to Evernote.
  • Pocket – one-click save to pocket.
  • Custom sharing – the new feature I’ve presented above.
  • Suggestions – you can suggest new features and you can vote on suggested features.
  • Support – Pro customers will get premium support from the Feedly team. And by paying for a Pro subscription, you support the Feedly team’s efforts to make this product better.
